Somewhere I once read that a business card is your a lasting impression that you have on someone… so you better make it good. Correction: you better make it GREAT. A business card needs to be memorable just like how you want to be remembered. Most likely you are giving a business card to someone who you want to work for or who can pass you onto someone else who you want to work for. A business card is a big deal. After you meet someone, the card is what you leave with them.. and it dictates if you are good enough for the job or not. You need to consider who you are targeting when giving a business card. If you want to go into design then that sucker better be freaking amazing. If you want to go into a educational field, then you might want the card to be exciting, easy to follow and informative. If you plan to go into a writing field, you must make sure there are zero typos on the card and vice versa if you are going into a reading or literature field, the grammar must be exquisite.
You must prepare before you make a business card if you want to set yourself up for success in making a great business card. I suggest making a Pinterest board, one for mood ideas, and one for inspiration. These two boards are your babies… they lead you to finding the right ideas and platform for your business card. A GREAT business card is legible, memorable, clean, consistent, original, contains information about yourself, has contact information, and explains the abilities you have or the skills you have to do whatever task you are eventually applying for. A few easy websites to create business cards on are Canva and Wix.
Attached are some really interesting and creative business cards off Pinterest for you! Go take a look, I dare you!
